Yesterday, one of my little 2mth old dellie roos got in with the next door neighbors dogs. He was in there maybe a minute, I looked him over and his body is ok, but he has gotten a broken toe. The poopr little guy! I don't know what to do about it, as of this morning he was still not walking on the foot. He is limping around and holding up his foot. And there is no puncture wound, or break in the skin. PLEASE HELP ME IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?????

maybe you can put a splint on it, or put him in a dog kennel until he heals up a bit. we had a hen that hurt her leg, got stuck in the hay feeder, and it took a while but she healed up.

I agree. You could cut a plain bit of brown cardboard like from a box or something, and make a duck foot boot for the bottom of his foot and work your rest of your magic with vet wrap, or even duct tape in a pinch. I bet he will heal up okay. Sorry he got hurt, but glad he didnt get killed.

Hi TACEY. I agree with the others. I currently have a hen with a pulled/dislocated leg. It happened about a month ago. I keep her seperated from the others and she gets plenty of R&R. She still hobbles around on one leg, but occasionally puts her other foot down and scratches the dirt some. Time will heal. In my case it looks like a very long time. Your roo will be ok in time.

i would check and see if it is dislocated or broke..... which on a little chicken is difficult.. hehe. either way I would wrap it real good with some vet wrap for support until it either heals or the pain quiets down.

Hi everyone- thank you for the advice. I checked on him this evening and he seems to be in good spirits. Up walking around and eating. He still is favoring the leg alot. I am really happy he was not fatally injured. Thank you everyone for your advice.
