I need your help!

I don't really like the idea of taking care of someone else's birds. (This guy doesn't happen to live in Blairstown, does he? LOL) I once took care of these chicks for this guy I did some work for. He said he would pay me for all the ones I raised and that he could take back. Well, I ended up having a rat attack, which wiped out a good portion of them. If they were my birds, I would be sad, but since they were someone else's I felt horrible. In the end only two survived and they turned out to be game roosters, so I had no where to put them so that they would be separated. Finally he said I could bring them over and all he did was complain about how they were too small. These were winter hatches, so naturally they are going to be smaller than spring hatches. He also ended up not giving me anything because he said he was going to have to kill the two anyways. That was the last time I heard from him. I was really ripped off with that one! Never again will I do that, and I don't even like taking care of friend's animals because if they die, I feel completely responsible.

Just choose wisely. I know the $200 sounds good now, but sometimes it's just not the hassle of dealing with other people's animals.

I told him I would hatch out birds for him and raise them. he could pay me $3.50 each but he wants me to do 100. He lives in central jersey I believe. He is also looking to buy some goats if anybody has them

I will ask if he will let me hatch small bat6ches instead of so many. Might be easier right?

i will buy my eggs on here cause I know yall are honest. then from there I will calculate the cost of the eggs that hatched and feed plus electric

Ohhh..your hatching them too???

Remember, you can count on anything with a hatch, ecspecially from shipped eggs. Be careful, seriously. You may want to make it you get paid per chick. I have had batches with no hatches, what would happen then?? Do you loose the money or does he???

I am good at ahtching eggs. I will probobly loose money but I dont think i will. I will pay for the eggs and the ones that hatch will be $3.50. I am a very experienced hatcher

I would be awwwwfulllllly careful about doing the hatching too, unless you know where the eggs are coming from and how they're getting to you. If this guy is supplying the eggs you have no control over how they've been treated and thus how hatchable they'll be.

You know, the thing is, you have to ask yourself, if it is all so easy and profitable and low-risk then why is he looking for someone ELSE to do it? Chicks aren't THAT much work.

Call me a cynic,

Pat

I agree with you pat. I am going to buy the eggs on here. I will see what breeds he wants. then go to the buy catagory and get some.

I dont know why he wants me to do it. I was going to ask him if he would take the birds I dont want after hatching. Thats alot easier for me

I personally would not do it. It is a huge liability even if you know this guy well.

$200 for 4 months! NO way would I do that kind of work for 50 a month, which breaks down to about 12.50 a week, or like 1.75 a day. You'll end up spending more than 1.75 a day on bedding and electricity!

Sounds like a lose lose situation to me really.
