I never knew my dog had it in him..NEW pic of him in action :D See pg1

Right now I have five dogs. One Rottie, One English Bulldogge, two toy rat terriers (These are for sale), and a Boston Terrier. NONE of them bother my chickens. Oh, they like to make the ducks fly, but thats all they do. Thank God. We had a lot of stray cats around here and last week we kept finding them dead. Couldn't figure out what was going on. So the roo woke up my son on Friday and he went outside thinking something was getting in the coop. What should he find but the neighbors dog and another dog with a cat in their mouths, fighting over it. It was horrible. We have had trouble with the neighbors dogs before, so they got rid of a few. Never thought this one would have even done that. Your little guy is like my rottie. He thinks all chicks are his. We have some babies in the house in a cage, and he always has to be right there when I'm cleaning, feeding, watering, whatever. He is 4 and we have had him since he was a baby.

You have a beautiful dog. He has such a sweet face and kind eye. He was just protecting his little ones and he did a great job.

So refreshing to read such a good dog story - and what a beautiful photo of that sweetie.

ChickNLittle - so grizzly and sad about the dogs torturing and killing the cats -maybe too much to hope that they've got that dog under wraps now and that he isn't still out killing...?

What a great story! We are bringing home a five month old Pit mix, (we have named her Oreo), on Thursday. Our current dog, a five month old Swissy mix, does exceedingly well with the chickens. He tried to take a bite out of a couple of them shortly after we got them but dh and I taught him to leave them alone. Now all he does is follow them around waiting for them to leave him treats (who knew chicken poop tasted so good!). I hope that we will be able to train the new dog just as easily.

Today I actually got a pic of him in action! He's very protective of those chickies...... and funny thing is, he got attacked when we went in the house and he just stood there and let Gizzy nip him! She was doing her job and he let her. He was happy to go home after that! LOL I posted the pic of him on the first post

What a cutie!! Good dog!!

I have three pitties/pit bull mixes. They are fine around the chickens, though I never recommend anyone let their dogs out around chickens, I apparantly don't practice what I preach

. They don't go out unsupervised, ever--they are dogs, after all, and dogs with high-prey drives, at that--but they're good dogs! I've never had a problem with them. They are much more interested in that world-famous pittie delicacy--chicken POO!!
