i opened the bator

Well after all that fuss the first one to pip is out of its shell and healthy. And i noticed a second one was about half zipped. We watched it finish unzipping and pop out it came so now we have two. When those two started peeping the other eggs gots real active fast.

I had 5 chicken eggs in the incubator, and they were due today (Tues.) but three came Sunday! The other 2-- no movement. Temp. dropped a lot after I took the 3 out today (they were in there 2 days, didn't want to wait any longer), but it's back up ok now.

OK all you professionals....how long before I give up on the last 2? I plan to open them anyway to see how much development there was. I candled them on day 14 and everyone looked fine.

So sad about those last two. :(

That's a long time, I would have thought... but I just asked the same question another post. Is it safe to candle them at this stage to see if there's anything moving?

So what are the stats? lol out of those 11 how many seem to hatch? I once had a chick hatch waaay early! He still had not absorbed the yolk and ended up dying but to this day I'm just wondering why he hatched so early. Maybe he heard the other eggs chirping and thought they were out so he went out too? lol poor thing. I hope everything works out for you!

well so far as of this morning there were 4 of them out and hatched. The rest were peeping and wiggling. I haven't checked if all 11 have pipped. So of the 9 that did pip 4 have hatched.

I'm going home at lunch to check on them again. When I pull them out of the 'bator tonight I'll snap some pictures of them.

They are little black chicks. So awesome!!!!

it seems to be going good. I'm thinking about getting some Turkey eggs to hatch because they are delicious.

Went home at lunch to check on everything and cracked the bator open real quick to get you guys a picture.
