i opened the bator

So I smelled those last two eggs :( so I put them in ziploc bags and opened them. Perfectly formed chicks, don't know what happened. My troubleshooting chart says humidity was probably an issue, yet the 3 others hatched out fine.

I was following the advice of the BYC person who uses the "dry method", and kept humidity around 40 until last 3 days, then let it get to 65 or so (using a foam insulator). Temp stayed constant at 99.5.

Any ideas, anyone? The chicks didn't appear malformed at all, although one was inside a membrane and the other wasn't.

Am I a murderer?

My last batch hatched out, no problems.

Well, I hope you haven't killed any people. If you haven't, then no - you're not a murderer. As far as the chickens go, sometimes they are just too weak to hatch. It's called natural selection. Sometimes, they just don't make it.

No way are you a murderer. This has happened to me while doing the conventional incubating method and dry. My best hatch has been a dry hatch.

Congrats on the fluffy butts!

That happens ALOT on this forum...more than any other of the tons I've read on. It's very rude, most folks here just don't seem to get it.
