Don't use gorilla glue nor nail polish, the smell may affect the chick. Since it's hatch day is today, just keep the membrane oiled. Patience with the rest, don't give up on any too soon. Keep us updated.

Instead of rewetting the towel just oil it ... Rewetting will chill down the chick.
It doesn't matter, i had a paper towel under some eggs once for some reason, and the edge had fallen in the water reservoir unknown to me, the towel got wet under the eggs and the next morning all the eggs that were on the wet paper towel were dead, the day before the hatch. It was over 12 hours they were like that though, and completly on thick layer of soaking wet towels,Thanks! I'll do that. I warmed up the water before putting it on the egg, at least. I made sure it was the temp of the incubator.
So sorry! I did the same thing once except I dropped the egg. It died a few days after it was supposed to have hatched. We all make mistakes! Not that it was your faultIt died.It didn't move again after I first looked at it. Today it had goop oozing out. The membrane broke I guess. No movement was seen.

I'm terrified of the day I drop an egg!! I always feel like I'll somehow crush it. But if the egg can survive being shoved out of mama, I assume holding it should be fine.
When I was 8 or so I stepped on a kitten and killed it. (Blood pouring out of nose, it was fun). Since then animal deaths have been hard if I'm involved. But I can deal with normal deaths fine. I had a pack of feral cats that inbred all the time before I fixed them.
The good news is that when I went to take out the dead egg I found a pip! One is coming out on it's own.![]()
