I ordered 200 chicks- It's Promiselandfarm & Perfectly_polish's fault

And PC remember when you pick up the ducks don't put them on wood shavings for the first week or 2, they can swallow the pieces and choke.

Well what do I put them on then? Will gold dust do?
Do I need to dig them an inground pool?

I normally put mine on hay, they don't have a problem with it. No, no inground pool a kiddie pool should be fine

Now hay I have. Will 15 be stinky? They need the same heat lamp temps as chicks
right?

My 20 Colored Rangers are loving there barn space. They are all over. I left the
doors open all day so they could explore the woods but they chose to stay indoors.

15 ducks will be like 25 cornish x chicks. Except wetter! LOL

Just remind yourself- good eating. And they are very cute too. You'll be quacking mad in no time.

Initial temp is the same, but they grow so quick you can wean them off the heat sooner. They'll let you know when to back off.

I am living vicariously through you guys. I have half a mind to put in an cockerel order to ideal for my dogs for food. Seems odd not having my meaties.

Depending on the size of pen your keeping them in and whether they're inside or outside will determine how much they stink. Ducks are messy, and they make mud, and the mud gets mixed with poop, and with the heat lamp it will make them smell a little. Just make sure to keep the hay dry, and smell shouldn't be a problem. But you'll be down to 5 soon anyway, so it won't be bad.

Glad your meaties are enjoying the space. We'll be going to salem tomorrow to see if they have broiler feed with a higher protein. They finished a 50 lb bag in about 3 days, so they'll be getting fatter

Yup same method with the ducks. I would like to try dry plucking one though, because I know when hunters pluck wild ducks, they do it dry. So maybe we can compare the results.
