Picked up some chicks from Cackle Hatchery last spring after about 6 emails to them back and forth.I bugged them to death.
Its 3 hours from me so a little trip.
Hope to get what i wanted while up that way.
.Day i was going they emailed they were out of what i wanted but might have 1or 2 in the brooder still
.Came in the door told my name they said" Here you go!"Very nice . They had 3 in a box waiting for me

They have about 5 ppl on the phones and emails in another room you can see into. And baby chicks in another small room with a big window also.Clean nice shop.
My chickens are almost grown now and are healthy wonderful pretty hens. I adore Light Brahmas.
I sure would buy from them again.
Been in business 3 generations in the same spot on old main street .

Its is been 105 -107 here in Mo (where they are located, south Mo Lebanon ) and hasnt gone under 100 in i dont know how long.Weeks Well 2 days last weekend went down to a cool 95.
A record heat wave .... for weeks
.Trucks are way WAY higher heat than that.gues is 130 at least
I am surpised ANY make it in this heat Dehydrated probably.
I am sure it is just too hot for the day old babies to be shipped from Mo right now. WAY too hot like a true oven.

I'm in MO, too. Got up to 108 the last couple days. The chicks have a fan and plenty of water. They pant a lot. They fluff out their feathers. They love the cold treats I bring them. Haven't seen any real signs of stress that would concern me, yet.

I keep them in the garage, out of the direct sunlight.

i ordered guinea hen chicks from them several years ago. And was very pleased with what i received. i think you also will be..

yes, they will come safely. i think they try to get the chicks to u asap so the chickens will not have to be in a box for very lon g, though i have never ordered on line
