I ordered lots of chicks!

Really, looking into a brooder with 25 (or 26, they might send an extra) is not all that much different from looking in and seeing 50 chicks. Just don't give him time to count them, or if he tries, keep them moving by putting your hand in and bringing out this or that one to show him individually, so he loses count.

It might work.

gryeyes, I like that idea. He didn't show a lot of interest in chicks the last time. Of course, last time, I split an order with someone and only brought home 12! So, hopefully, he won't do more than glance in the box. If he does more, I distract him! LOL If he does figure it out, I'll just tell him that I'll sell the extras and remind him how much a point-of-lay pullet goes for around here.

bledsoe, I ordered them from Ideal Poultry.

I ordered too early last year and the babies didn't make it due to the cold (sniff). This year I ordered them for mid march shipping- it seems worlds away!

Yay for you, you are going to love your chicks! I just got my 25 chicks the other day from Ideal and got a great assortment! Out of 26 they sent me 25 survived the trip in 0-20 degree weather. BRRRRR!!!! But they do a good job packing those little guys so they are safe and warm. I recieved some EE's, leghorns (Ideal 236), red sex links, a BO, austrolorps, and I think some wyandottes.
Hmmmm, I'm liking this 48 hour rule. LOL I will keep this in mind to try in the near future.

I'm in Texas, near Houston, so no worries about the cold. We've had a really mild winter so far, not that winter here is usually anything like the winters in most of the rest of the country.

Also, Ideal is a little over a hundred miles from me so I might get them Thursday rather than Friday. Fingers crossed!

Dolly, I got some Wyandottes, Austrolorps, and EEs last time. All were very nice.

Tammy, March will be here before you know it!

I've got 102 coming from McMurray's on the 30th. (It was DH's Christmas present to me) I am scared eggless that I will freeze the little buggers. oooooohhhhh I am one worried mama.

I'd love more EEs and Wyandottes. One can never have enough EEs (IMO).

Actually, I'm splitting an order of pullets with someone I know online. They're due in mid February. I believe they're Cochins, redcaps, campines, and polish. Should be fun!
