Applestar noticed her kits leaving and fled after them. "Honeycloud, are you okay? I know this is.... sudden, but I love you, all of you." She flicked her ears for the others to come forward and stand beside her.
 
Honeycloud stopped and turned at her mother's voice.
"But...why!" She sobbed. "What kind of leader are you, to give up on us!" Her sadness turned to anger.
 
Applestar's tail drooped, "I did it because I wanted to have a chance to stay with you and your sisters and brothers more. I know I haven't exactly been able to stay around. If I become a regular warrior, then we can hang out more. Like a normal family."
 
Honeycloud was confused. She blinked a few times, trying to dry her eyes so she wouldn't look like a crybaby apprentice.
"So...you just woke up and decided to quit. Can you even do that?"
 
"I lost a life.... to Yellowcough. I didn't get it treated. I decided that my life was to short not to be present for your life. I didn't even get time to congratulate you on your warrior ceremony. I can't handle leadership anymore, Lunaclaw is more than ready and I missed being your mother."
 
Honeycloud leaned into Applestar and smelled her fur. She missed it so much. She wanted to go back to the nursery when she used to play with her siblings and not be judged. She knew her mother would not judge her, so she cried again.
 
"It's okay darling. I love you, I know I haven't been a very good mother, but I intend to change that. I missed being there for you. I need you to be able to talk to me, when I was leader it was near impossible. I was always so busy."
