"Birdkit, be careful!" Woodclaw mewed picking him up and taking him into the nursery.

Jadeheart stepped gently over leaf litter and swiveled her ears, listening between bird whistles and the wind brushing the ground. A scuffle of tiny paws. She twitched her tail to signal she was hunting, telling him not to approach her. Very carefully, she crouched. A brown form was twenty feet away. She wondered if she could make it that far. Focus, focus. She quietly took a few steps, silent to a human. But she stopped and flattened herself, for the squirrel turned its head toward her direction. Several times she did this, and the squirrel got increasingly agitated. Still, it couldn't just go and not store food for the winter for every miniscule sound it heard. Eventually, it's eyes wided, and it stiffened. Jadeheart knew it was looking for an exit, somewhere to flee. She couldn't let it get to a tree. And trees were everywhere. She ran the last 8 feet so fast it froze in terror undecided. She pounced on it and killed the prey. She walked back to Fallingrain, her tail raised high, a plump squirrel dangling from her mouth.
