Moonspots was normally calm, collected and sensible but at Fallingrain's flaming she snapped. Who would even dare to hate on her friend!

Galefeather whispered into Icepaw's ear. "Go on, mouse-brain! Tell them you'll take the punishment! Honestly, you need to take responsibility! Don't sit here while your one moment of lack of self control pulls the clan apart!" She shoved him forward with her shoulder.

Lightkit began crying again. Just when last night's trauma had gone away, another argument had to mess up her good mood. When would this dark forest end?

Finchstripe, at the base of Highrock, was listening intently. "The code states that a leader's word is law." She meowed quietly. "No matter if you agree or disagree. Icepaw hurt a clanmate. It doesn't matter if he acted in impulsiveness or grief, it is still wrong to attack a clanmate. I think that this very minor punishment is fair. I will also have a talking-to with Nightpaw." Then she added simply, "And shame on you for challenging your leader. This is a small event that shouldn't cause an uproar in camp." She nodded to herself, and looked out on the cats. Her eyes held the sorrow and love that she shared with her clanmates that every cat could recognize.

Auburnstar was glad her deputy was so loyal. It was good she stepped in. Silverwing hadn't agreed.

Fallingrain growled and mewed, “You’re just as bad as the rest of them. I consider leaving to, seeing how unfair this clan is. Maybe Emberfeather was right to leave you all are just fox hearts. Even you Jadeheart.”

Jadeheart's green eyes widened in horror and alarm. "You can leave!" She cried. "I love you!"

“A minor punishment and Nightpaw gets off fine! This is because Luna raised him partly isn’t it! You can’t trust any cat related to her in any way anymore because she left! You don’t even trust me!”

"I trust you," said Jadeheart. "A disagreement doesn't make me lose my trust in you, unless you leave. That would take it too far."

Finchstripe looked up at Auburnleaf. She knew she should hint her leader to end the meeting. Thing were getting a bit to chaotic. 'clan dismissed' she mouthed to her, sensing that everyone needed a while to calm down.

"Clan dismissed," Auburnstar said disappointed at a reaction for such a small punishment. They were grieving, but they needed to follow code, and sense.

Fallingrain looked at Auburnstar, "You're the worst one! Maybe you just can't see sense, because Icepaw is in Luna's family! I hate you and this clan. I love you Jadeheart, I won't leave for you, but I want to."

"That's good," Jadeheart said, nuzzling him.

Puddlekit poked her head out of the nursery. "Come on" She dragged Sheepkit by the tail to the den entrance. "Quit being a wimp! Come spy with me!"

"Maybe you need to go to the warriors den," Jadeheart said with a sad smile. "Flamepaw will bring Emberfeather back. I know it. You are under a lot of stress now, maybe making opinions right now aren't the right thing." She sat next to him.
