I really need some fast advice on this stuff!

Oh my goodness gracious!!!

I got a little surprise when I candled the eggs again today! Another one moved! That's two good looking eggs!

Egg 1 is the one that I first saw movement in. It was moving while I took the picture!

Egg 2. Nothing except that little ring.

Egg 3 is the one I thought was a quitter but it started moving inside when I went to take the picture!

Egg 4 is nothing but a big line.
The pictures are all on day 12.

subscribed I'm incubating my first eggs too. Never has time passed so slowly!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

These are great pics. Im going to try to take pics when I candle also. Im glad to see you have two good eggs.

Egg 2 looks like no development. The circle you are seeing looks like where you marked your X & O to mark sides for turning. Egg 4 has a blood ring. Those 2 you can now safely toss. They are obviously no good at this stage. Your other 2 are developing well. Never toss 1 just because you don't happen to see movement when you candle. They are just like human babies. They sleep during development too.

I want to thank all of you for posting such great information. I wanted to incubate some of the last of our roosters-hopefully-fertile eggs. He die last Saturday and we borrowed an incubator-homemade- last night. I am having a difficult time getting it up to 99.5 degrees. I put some blankets over it hopefully it will stabilize. It is at 98.5 -or was- until I put in the eggs.
I had to rush out and re-arrange the eggs when I read about the fat end up.. I had it backwards! You all already saved the day!

I will candle them in five days and see if any were fertile. They are a weeks worth of eggs-21 of them I kinda hope they all don't hatch. I already have 18 hens.
I only need one rooster! What are the odds I will get 21 hens? It's all based on need isn't it?
