So, I gave 2 2 day old chicks to my broody hen yesterday, all seemed well as they cuddled up in the dim light to go to sleep. I was a little worried that the 2 week and 5 day age diff. between her blood babies and her foster babies would be an issue, but I figured mama hen would work it out. This morning I went to check on them, and one of the 3 week old chicks was brutally attacking the little Buff Orpington. I imediatly found the Rhode Island Red, and carried them both inside. They both seem to be ok, but my heat lamp is being used for my duckies and I am worried they are cold. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, I also wanted to mention we originally purchased them for my broody cochin who had lost her eggs to a raccoon, but she did NOT like them.
