I rescued chickens who are in desperate need of care!

You should give them some ACV in their water and if you have some spare eggs scramble them up for them.

I will make comment those birds look very good. Are you certain they are out of a battery production operation?

All appear to be hens to my eyes. Large combs typical of even hen leghorns. Bright color of combs mean birds in peak of health. Quality of feathers indicates they have been in good health for some time.

If they were battery hens, they wouldn't look that good. Take it from someone who rescues them.

maybe they were 'chicken rustled,' and the perps thought they'd be caught - panicked and just dumped them in the street. They do look in good condition to me. Maybe you should put up an ad saying you found chickens. Make any respondents describe them over the phone to weed out imposters.

If they have fleas and bumble foot, then they cant have been very well looked after.

If i was you, i wouldn't bother looking for their old owner (thats if they have one). Just keep them, they clearly wernt well looked after in the first place.

I have been giving them ACV in their water. I have also alternately given them electrolytes and vitamins. Ive given them scrambled eggs and meal worms in addition to the feed.

the chickens looked fairly healthy as you see them in this picture. However, I noticed them constantly biting and scratching and when I looked underneath them there were no feathers from all the scratching and we saw the mites/fleas crawling around. We dusted them in Diatomaceous Earth and added that to the dirt bath area. I researched how to take care of the bumblefoot and as we were working on that we found there reason for the infection...... there was a BB stuck in his foot! There is a huge knot on the side of his foot. It seems someone used them as target practice! They are starting to look healthier now and feeling more at home.
