When I was last at my feed store, they had Cayuga ducklings, straight run of course. Gosh I love the little, all black ducklings! Okay, I love all ducklings, but the Cayugas have a special place in my heart.

I had a pair, Thelma and Louie - luck of the straight run draw! - and Thelma was recently killed by a predator whilst she was brooding for her first time. She chose a stupid place far from the chicken coops and out where I believe a raccoon got her. Louie is a widower and needs a new wife. I still had to say no to ducklings at the feed store, as I have 3 call duckling I hatched currently in a brooder. None of them would be suitable for Louie as a mate, as they are and will be so much smaller.

I LOVE ducklings. I love chicks, too. It's hard to resist either of 'em.

Oh my goodness, I could have never resisted those cute little things! We went to the feed store today and I am sure the store employees were ready to kick us out over the fuss my daughter was making over my refusal to bring home baby chicks. "Not today" ..... But I would have been in trouble if there had been adorable little ducks!
