I saw a Real RIR Hen for the first time !!!

Yes we are allowed to have livestock and yes even Roosters LOL My neighbor might want one and some pullets she loves chickens so she said . LOL
But I only have one roo that crows . Is it possible that only one will crow and the others don't ?

I sold my 3 RIR roos today for $5 to the local 4H lady. They are going to a farm to be bug control for the llamas. Only one of the three crowed (the largest). I knew I had roos all along and treated them like the pullets, they turned mean on me about a week ago. They are 13 weeks. You should be able to tell the roos by their bright red combs and wattles and the green tail feathers.

I know how you feel. I started with 6 chicks and most of them turned out to be roosters. Even one of my replacements turned out to be a roo! So in the end 5 out of 7 were roos! It was hard for me to give them up but I can't have them where I live. I was so disappointed because I had all the breeds I wanted...my perfect little flock. I couldn't kill them or eat them but luckily the woman I brought them from takes them back and they live on her farm. Good luck!

He is gorgeous. One of my nine RIRs turned out to be a roo. We could keep him but at 7wks he is already a little bit of a bully. He is even bothering my 1 yr old hens. If he turned out half as handsome as yours though...

Thanks I really do love him he comes running out to met me but I don't want 5 roos and 1 pullet I like RIR's their pretty birds, I ordered 3 more they come in tomorrow morning becase that's how many I have to get rid of

But I'm keeping Junior that's his name
