I'd loved to see and hear all the updates! And I know that some of the others from WI pop in sometimes too.

Sorry you have sick kids to deal with. Poor girls.

Well, after candling and removing clears and early quitters, I'm down to 54 eggs in the bators. I didn't remove any of the Orps, can't see any development in them except 1, but we'll see. The person I bought them from says they are sometimes just harder to tell. I hope they are correct. That would percentages wise make this my worst hatch ever. Alot of it was due to problems with the PO, delayed shipments, broken eggs, detached aircells. You name it, I've seen it this hatch. That darned PO lost me alot of money and eggs, and I'm really aggravated with them this time. My other hatches were all received in good condition, not sure what's going on with the PO this time. All's I can say is I'm glad they were eggs and not live chicks shipped to me this time

Fordmommy, sorry to hear about the power outage, but you are correct in that they should be fine

So I was warned about broody poo.......... Been waiting, starting to worry that my broody wasn't leaving a big poo in the crate.... I just went out and checked everyone over and

All over the BACK of the crate. Had to take her out and scoop the mess out before I could let her go back to the eggs, she was not happy with me....

Meanwhile, the ignored by me bator is still going ok, the cats love it, they take turns sleeping on it. Nod keeps trying to pull out the thermometer wire but other than that and turning.... it's ignored. Been steady between 99 and 100.

So is it true that if I see veins but can't find the eye spot that it's not developing? I don't see a blood ring. These were candled on day 6. If this is true, my stats are this: out of 24 eggs, I have 2 w/no veins, 1 w a blood ring, 3 with a visible "eye" and the rest fall into this "veins but no eye" category and are also junk. Am I only going to have 2 eggs develop? I hope not..or boy...buying shipped eggs really is too much of a gamble. I could buy 2 pullets and pay shipping for what I paid for these eggs.

LOL KD, those broody poos are something else

Luckily, my broody always did it outside. Sounds like you're doing a great job ignoring the bator. You must be stronger-willed than me

No, that's not true at all. If you have veining, that's a great thing, especially day 6, you won't necessarily see the embryo, alot of times not until later will you see your swimmers. Don't panic, sounds like your doing great with your hatch

Kayla....veins are great! An egg with a blood ring is very obvious. I had 2 last time and I waited until I was absolutely sure. Then I opened the eggs and found that I was right.

I got my eggs this morning and I'll put them in the bator tonight.

Tomorrow is Day 1 for me!
