My son and I have eggs set to hatch the on March 21st as well. We can't wait our first attempt had a few problems and we ended up with no chicks so we are hoping to do better this time around:fl Well let you know when they start pipping. I'm a 4-H leader for poultry so I am hoping it starts working so I can let the kids see the eggs grow via candling. They are all excited to see the chicks!

Tee-hee! I set mine on the 25th and set some more today. Another BYCer came over (very grateful to her) and taught me how to candle. Way AWESOME!!! The whole family (minus the dogs, cats, donkeys, and horses) are very interested in the progress of our little eggs. This is so cool. I am still in shock that I am addicted to chickens.

I am too. We started with chickens last March. My husband brought some home from the feed store and I refused to have anything to do with them...because I knew it wasn't going to last and didn't want to be too attached

Well, that lasted a week. They were so cute. Now my DH is wondering if this was a good idea. He can't keep up with all the pens

But I love it, because it's something we can do as a family.

That's why DH doesn't know that I brought home 6 chicks from TSC last night.

One is sitting on my shoulder now, but DH is gone to work!! He doesn't really keep track of them, so by the time the eggs hatch out he probably won't know which chicks came from where! Just hope I can keep him from noticing that 3 Cuckoo Maran chicks turned into 9

I'm avoiding the feed store right now. Went in yesterday and had a hard time walking out with just what I needed rather than more chicks!!

I'm avoiding the feed stores too. I had to go get food the other day and I didn't even go back and look. And if my son is with me, he'd be convincing me I need a duckling or 2. I have 4 true ameraucana's, 3 BCM and an olive egger in the brooder. And now eggs in the bator.

My husband and I are building a new 8X12 coop that will be split in 2 so I can breed 2 different breeds. And to grow out extra roos. Because a coop that holds 15 chickens is not big enough.

And now I'm on Day 2.
