Hello everyone, today when I was monitoring the chickens while they free ranged I saw a snake in the bushes, I usually don't pay it any mind unless I find it in the coop, but I have a hen with five chicks they are about 2 weeks old and still small enough for a snake to eat. I shot it with my 22 caliber rifle and put a good size hole into the body about 3/4 down from the head, but before I could shot again it went into hiding and I could not find it. I was just wondering if anyone know if snakes can survive a wound like that or will it die.

Thanks everyone

Yes they can survive if you didn't hit the lung, they have amazing resistance to wounds...

Get some bird shot shells if you want to shoot snakes with the .22lr, they work quite well on snakes at close range and you don't have to worry about over penetration...
