I messed up beyond belief! I will literally never release this guilt! I am hatching both ducklings and baby chicks. But I need help with the duck egg! I &^%&**^%$ smashed the 2 remaining eggs on accident one hour ago, HORRIBLE! The one that got it the worse is fully developed, but the egg is literally smashed, with blood and dirt in it. It was chirping. I panicked while I rinsed the dirt out, and I have it wrapped up in a damp paper towel in the incubator, I can't see where it's face is, but the upper half of the shell is off. There is yellow gunk mixed in with everything. I am Praying that this baby somehow survives this! Next egg is only on day about 19 or 20..so like 8 days early. That one has a crack and dent, and I'm pretty freaking sure the sac is ruptured. I taped it with electrical tape really well, and now it is rocking back and forth in the incubator. The rocking means, air got into it right, and it is trying to be born? This sucks.

How? Just calm down. Honestly I don't know if they will live or not. I think you have done everything possible though.

This is so horrible. I have mama and the babies in a large dog crate, but Mom pooped in it earlier, so my plan was to clean it out when I got back from the pharmacy. It was a stressful, 3 hour situation at the pharmacy, so my brain was fried when I got back. I went to check ion them, and as I am saying Hi, mom literally pooped ON the babies. I have no idea how bad that is for those babies, but can't imagine it is good. I finally got mom out of the crate, so I can get the babies out, and then here's where my brain betrayed me...I somehow forgot about the 2 eggs in there, it all happened so fast! I got the babies out, then I literally dumped the contents of the crate onto the ground. It then hit me, OMG, the eggs! The one that has it the worse was underneath the entire pile, crying. The other one was still inside the crate, but got smashed from the jolt of dumping it out. It is the tan color, almost solid style dog crate. HOW do you have a momentary lapse of memory?! How did I forget for 5 seconds about the eggs?!

The best you can do is give them heat/humidity. Any blood coming out of the egg?
There is blood and yellow all over the paper towel. I want to keep trying to help it, but each time I lift the lid ( only twice, I won't anymore.) the temp drops FAST!

What about the other egg... the baby is rocking in it. Does that mean that it is trying to hatch, this early? Can a baby survive 8 more days with an OPEN air sac/membrane?
