I smashed the eggs!

All you can do is keep the eggs in the incubator. Did you rinse the cracked egg with water? I agree with odd in not having much hope for these two. I really hope I'm wrong 🙏🏻

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it. 2 hatched yesterday, and 2 hatched today.
With the egg that still had a while to go, I doubt the hen would have continued to sit for that long anyway. Once they hatch most, the hen has to leave the nest to show the babies how to and where to get food and water. Congratulations on your little mama hatching 4 babies 😍

I only rinsed the severe one, not the other one. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I killed them both. Praying for a miracle, the fact that that baby was crying, killed me, I need him to live. But pretty sure he won't. I want to make sure I give my taped up egg the best shot, I don't know what to do. You guys are saying even with the taped one, don't later add different tape/remove the tape, nada, literally leave it like this for the next what 11/12 days.

Thank you. I bought the incubator in preparation for this egg, as I knew it was behind it's siblings. I will be okay, I just SOO appreciate the support here, my heart is breaking. Maybe I'm not cut out for this farm life like I thought I was.

@MGG has experience with incubating eggs that have shell damage. So let's see what she has to say. I have dropped and cracked an egg that had externally pipped. It was hatching though so a huge difference. I just gave her another crack.

I don't think there's really any hope for the younger baby, seeing as it likely ruptured its yolk sac and veins and has been directly exposed to bacteria. But if it somehow manages to make it to the point where you would need to replace the tape, you can do that.

The fully developed baby didn’t make it. His injuries were severe. The younger egg, I candled and there was no movement, The air sac looked huge (the dent and open crack are in the air sac) and there were black spots in the air cell. I took the very top part of the egg, that was darn near falling off, off because I wanted to at least see if this egg did indeed have twins like I thought. With the shell off, the baby was moving a little under the membrane! There is dirt and clear spots along the membrane, so I tried to gently remove some of the dirt, but I could not get it all! So I put Saran Wrap and tape around it, very well, and put it back into the incubator, fragile, dirty membrane and all. This is insane. Can I even freaking have Saran Wrap in the incubator?

Also, it looks bloody underneath the membrane. I bet he is bleeding out. Don't hit yourself too hard though! I hit an egg on the side of the incubator (it cracked and dented ) and my heart SANK! Luckily it was infertile. However, it could have just as easily happened with a developing egg. You have chicks, so just go love on those babies more then they need.

Oh! And just in case this baby survives, you need to keep the membrane moist. You can take a cotton swab and wet it with coconut oil or water.
