i do have grow lights for my tomato and pepper plants inside one of the sheds. maybe i can just change the timer around a little. it’s a purple light.

I'm not sure how the purple light would work, but couldn't hurt to try as long as it doesn't get hot to the touch, the LED might be better in this instance.

oh. it’s the grow lights in the shed that are purple. i definitely wasn’t clear about that. the little puck light can be any colour. or just white. and you can adjust the brightness. i can change the timer on the grow lights so it doesn’t distract from the coop light

Ah, ok. IDK what color ranges chickens see, the purple light may not distract them from the coop light, but using a curtain to block the light, or resetting the timer on the grow light might be a good idea.

this is probably a stupid question but what do you do with your chickens when the lawnmower is going?
do they get scared?

They run & hide. Yard is big enough that it’s not an issue.

I keep mine in the run, just in case.

But when they lived in the backyard, they kept the grass short enough to never need mowing.

Mine seem to not be bothered by machinery sounds. It’s not like they run towards the lawnmower (like they do the power saw), but it doesn’t bother them.
Strange birds.
