I started them in the incubator today! 6-20-12

I just realized that one of my 3 day old GLPs is blind. I couldn't figure out why she cried all the time and just wasn't triving. I had her in the inside brooder with my very new hatchlings. The one that hatched yesterday morning dwarfed her. I thought maybe she would start doing better if I put her with the other chicks. I was actually right (for now), but we'll see how long that lasts. I kept paying very close attention to the way she would wander around looking for the other chicks and calling them. Finally, I figured she wasn't going to be able aim right to ring the holes in the feeder so, I brought out a small doggie bowl & filled it w/ their food. The other chicks flocked to it. She started trying to aim and kept pecking the shavings. I thinned out the shavings where she was standing and sprinkled some food on there for her. She actually started to eat! I had to pick her up & put her in the bowl w/ the other chicks. It took several tries to convence her to stay there. She did and started eating with the other chicks. They've accepted her so far. She even has one that was in the little brooder with her the longest that she follows around and touches every once and awhile. We've started putting all of their food and water in the same exact spot so that she knows where it is. I'm also going to continue to sprinkle some food for her on the ground for alittle while. I don't know if she'll make it or not, but I can't not try to do something for her. She seems happy with the other chicks. I have to get a different waterer for her she has a hard time aiming for this one. I can swap the one that the ducks have for the one that she has now.

Aww poor little thing... I think once you adapt her living space and she learns where her food and water is she'll be just fine... Your so kind for even taking the time...

I was worried she was in pain, but since she is not we will go with it and try out best! I am trying to will it to be a hen, lol
