You have won a very pretty 12 week old cockeral. Where would you like him shipped?

Oh we should wait for delivery for a couple more weeks than send him to camp freezer.

Just kidding.
Not allowed roos here so I guess he has to go to the next lucky winner.

I guess this thread is hijacked.

I am really liking chiken math.

So... the 50 or so chicks in the brooder and the 100+ hatching (I hope) on Sunday dont count yet... and my Silkies, EOGs, Cochins, ect only count 0.5?! Sweet!

So this means I need to find some breeders selling hens to replace all these "lost" birds. Anyone near NC ? lol

I need some help with chicken math before my husband comes home!
I acquired 40-some chickens on Tuesday. Hubby's been out of town working so doesnt know yet. We planned on getting about this many birds, but not just yet. He's always griping about me getting too many animals, so I need to minimize this.
I got these chickens because I went to get HIM some ducklings and they kinda foisted the chickens on me. So, I'm thinking I can subtract 4, the number of ducklings. There are a LOT of roos, many will have to go to freezer camp, so those don't count, right? Let's see, that's 40-4=36, then 36-15=21
Any other tips?

All mutts, and not all the same, but it could probably help consolidate. So, all the cochin crosses could be one, and all the silky crosses could be one...

Humm, what breed are they? Isn't there a rule that if they are all one breed they only count as 1 pet?

My chicken math says chickens = 1 pet, ducks = 1 pet. They need each other. They only come to one call ("Chickens!" and "Quackers!" in my case), so they are only one pet. You feed them all together, clean up after them all at once. One pet.
At least, that is what I tell my S.O.

He didn't laugh at first, but he is coming around.
