I think I finally have a flock

Well after months of trying to get my adult guineas to become one flock I think it may have finally happened. I let Bob and Lacey (new hen) out to free range yesterday. Rocky (flock leader, bully, crazy one) was throwing such a fit I let him out of his pen. Rocky chased Bob all around acres and acres, grabbing him on occasion but not drawing blood. I stayed outside with them most of the day supervising their marathon runs. Lacey was just moseying along eating and paying little attention to the crazy males. Well Rocky seems to have claimed Lacey as his now (just as PeepsCA said he might) and would chase Bob off every time Bob got near Lacey. I guess since Sophia is busy sitting on her eggs he decided to take on another mate. Come dusk all 3 went into the pen. I opened the dividing door in the pen and they wandered back and forth between the 2 pens, eating and drinking and jumping up and down on the roosts in both pens. I went out after dark to see where they were roosting and all 3 were on the roost above the dogloo where Sophia has her nest, with Lacey in the middle.

I am so excited by this and so happy that I stuck it out. Thank you all so much for all the info and encouragement that kept me going, without it I think would have ended up rehoming them.

Congratulations! What a great feeling! I finally have one flock of chickens too after mixing 5 + 7. It took awhile but what a sense of achievement (relief) when it finally happens! So happy you stuck it out.

Great news, I'm sure that's a huge stress off your mind finally. Congrats

(LOL @ rocky bein' a Hen stealer!)

It is such a great feeling but I couldn't have done it without ya'll. I am going to leave them all penned together and see if Lacey will resume laying after the snake episode. She is going in and out of her nesting cage, rearranging things so hopefully she will lay in there again or find another spot in the pen.

Now if Sophia can hatch out an egg or two and give us some baby keets, all will be well on the funny farm, well until I decide to get some more animals.
