I just got my first chicks today and I too think that I ended up wtih 3 cockerels, but I can't blame anyone but myself. I bought them local and he was selling them straight run. He let us pick the ones we wanted, but there was so much confusion going on with his kids, mine and my friend's picking up chicks and handing them to us while me and my friend made our first ever attempt to sex chicks, a couple ended up in the box that on second look we wouldn't have taken, lol. I got 6 Barred Rocks, and 2 Black Australorps. The good thing in my case is that our breeder stated that he would take back any Roos I got if I didn't want them and either refund my money or trade them for another chick. Couldn't ask for a better deal, and he's planning to breed his Rhode Islands Reds next spring, so I think I will return the boys and just ask if I can go on a waiting list for the RR's next spring.
