I think I have a little Pterodactyl

My young chicken has toes on both wings. Ive never noticed this on any of my others but they really are toes, with toe nails. Here is a pic the best I could do to capture how it looks. The toe with nail is directly under my thumb and forefinger.

Has anyone else ever notice this on their chickens?

Thats cool....thanks for sharing what you found. Isnt that something! My little guy has leg issues and I suspect he has Mareks but not sure. Here is the whole bird:


He is such a sweetheart. He spends most of the time with me, loves to be held and cuddled.

I would have never noticed this oddity unless I was caring for him as I am. I have to bath him and dry him since he cannot take dust baths. That is how I happened to notice the toes. Some of my other birds may have similar but I would not know.

Side-note, I refer to him as a "he" but Im still not sure. His sibs are all crowing and the girls are getting ready to lay but he is not showing his sex to me yet.

I agree about always learning something on BYC...I love this forum. I learned so much on how to care for my first chickens here. I found this little guy's daddy when he was only about 1 week old. That was my start of chicken owning and i knew nothing. Now Chickie, he is a house chicken for sure. This little fella spends time with me but he does sleep in the bottom of a cat litter box in the coop. His daddy still sleeps inside with me. I could never break him of that.
