I think I have done a baaad thing.... Update at #17

Yep, keep holding it to the light and checking on it. When it starts to pip, keep a good watch........ that is often when they get in trouble. If it can't get out I will gently flick off the shell part with a tooth pick, then pull back the membrane around it's face. I'll keep it moist with a damp Q-tip, dabbing every so often, making sure it is not too wet that it will drown him/her. then watch some more until it can pull itself out.

Everyone else had pipped and zipped so I snatched the little egg out and re-candled. Didnt look quite right so I picked at a little spot and 'egg-topsied' it. Looks like it started to develop and made it 2 weeks then stopped.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes!

Kim and the itty-bitty egg.

*sigh* Well, it's probably all for the best. It would have been a runt before it even got out of the shell and may have always had problems. But, one can't help but cheer for the underdog...or bird...as the case may be. Thanks for keeping us posted. *wanders off to get a bit of cuddles from my full grown girls*

Yeah, we had a runt once and it had pep and vigor and lived for a number of days but one day we found it dead? Don't know why. It just was so. And yes, it was sad, we all DO root for the underdog.

hugs,
gretch
