I'm glad you pursued this, and got your original bird back. I have three barred rocks. They all have very different personalities, and even though two of them are nearly identical to look at, they just act and sound different. I would hate to always be wondering, "are you really one of my Girls?". I'm glad your neighbor was understanding, and hopefully will work harder to keep her birds at home!
