do hens sing the song when they are working up to laying an egg? if so, i think one of my girls was singing it some this afternoon. bak bak bak bak- bak bak - baakkkooock. .no eggs from anyone yet and they are going on 24 wks. all are bo's

Mine do...they have support as all of them (including turkeys, young roos) go in the coop to lend the support, stand around, sing the song with the one laying...makes it hard to know who is doing it unless I go see

Unless she really gets drawn out, the ones that have already layed don't care much

Yes they do and did you know they also talk to the chicks in the shell while hatching eggs? They also can tell how many eggs are alive. Though this is not all hens but some can.
