Wow ! I had a lady give me 13 Chicks the Saturday before Easter . She was trying to sell them at a flea market and only sold 3. said She hatched them to sell and didn't want to take them home. Another gave Me 6 because Her Hubby was "Afraid of them".

then last night My Grand-Daugther called and said her other Granny wanted to talk to Me. The Granny said She was downsizing and wanted to give Me all Her Chickens, chicks,Food and Cages. I don't know how many she has but of course I said "I'll take them". Maybe some of those can turn into Chicken and Dumplings. I'm not going to name these except Fried Chicken,dumplings, Nuggets.Chicken noodle Soup,Dumplings. I think I've GOT Chicken Fever......wander if there is a Cure for it.LOL

My wife and I figured on growing them out until they are around that six week mark and see which are pullets and which are cockerels, then selling the vast majority of them.  We'll probably keep around three dozen or so.  Awfully hard to turn down free chicks.  Never would have guessed that it'd be that many when we said we'd take all of them though.  Hoping we get at least a few Easter Eggers.  Really like the colored eggs.  The folks that buy eggs from us seem to like the green/blue the best followed by the brown eggs.  White eggs don't seem as popular; probably because that is what everyone is used to from the store even though fresh eggs are better than store bought regardless of color.  Definitely going to have my hands full for a few weeks though.

Where I live we're allowed to have 10 without getting a permit, so this would never be able to come up for me. But, wow--when I went into TSC this past weekend, they'd already sold out of their last shipment of chicks! Nothing even LIKE "Hey, there are extras, want to go ahead and pick some up?"

I've run into that problem too. Some people don't believe they're chicken eggs, or they'll insist I must have dyed them.

at two to three weeks you can tell hens from roos easy ..long tail and wing feathers on hens and short tail and wings on roos...just band the roos and you wont get confused later...

Holy cow!!!! What store was this at? I am in Lemmon Valley. And I thought my 12 chicks were plenty!!
