I think I was sold a BBB instead of a standard bronze tom

I feel the same way! Silent bob follows me everywhere and is very gentle. If he hears me say his name or "baby bird" he comes running. He wasnt much over a day or two old when I brought him home, he still had his egg tooth. I love my chickens as well but they couldn't care less about what I'm up to, unlike bob. So glad your boy is doing well!

I have had my BBW since he was 1 day old, and have raised him right along side with my chickens. He is now 1 year, and 3 months old. He is HUGE, but still getting around just fine. I do keep a close eye on the start of any health issues, I definitely do not want him to suffer. He follows me around everywhere. I love him so much!

However he was bought through a big chain store and I am worried that when I researched what hatchery they used, they only had the BBW and then Orlopp Broad breasted listed on their site.
I wanted to commend you on using your own investigative power to get an answer! :highfive:

If you are sure of which hatchery they used, then you are probably correct on the breed.

My guess is... that he will live his best life for just as long as possible. And as many have noted, it could be longer than we think. :fl

I have a couple BBW in with my heritage poults, and WOW is there ever a difference in size at only two weeks old!

Just an update on Bob. He is in fact a Broad breasted bronze, and is having some difficulty getting around. He is however living his best life and was a year old last month. We are just taking it day by day and making sure he is still happy and living his best lifeđź’›
