I think its time we all do our part.

Check your local rescues. There are tons of birds who needs homes or at the very least, foster homes. Heck, even volunteering is a great thing. That would be time and money much better spent than trying to "rescue" budgies from pet stores. I don't really agree with buying any sort of animal from a pet store, except maybe fish from a good supplier.

I see where your coming from and i think this makes since. Let me add my opinion... Instead of resueing birds from pet stores, therefore giving them money to breed more... We hold a rally or somthing against these commercial breeders and pet stores!! It could even be a virtual army against it, you now!!! I haven't read all the posts but I saw this one and was inspired....

Sadly, some pet birds are simply released to fend for themselves once the owners lose interest.

theoldchick, my heart is warmed by your willingness to take in birds no one wanted.
I had a cockatiel that I adopted to a friend that was just 'let loose' outdoors, as if she could survive there! Someone found her at a baseball field and brought her to me. No one ever claimed her.

Yes, just setting them free is sad and dangerous for native birds who may succumb to whatever disease the 'pet' bird may be a carrier of.

These two appeared while I was loading square bales on a trailer. They were desperately eating the fescue seeds on the hay. I caught them with the pool net.

Kris Kringle arrived at someone's house on Christmas day. She was an experienced bird-keeper and said Kris was not hand tame. I learned he's not hand tame if you tried to grab him. Otherwise he loves to lick my glasses.

I dont know if this counts but someone was giving away free budgies with the flight cage so i took them my lutino tiel was from a hoarder
The birds were living in their own feces and their was no food or water the pair i was originally looking at the guy said those most likely will die. So i took differnt one. The other one i wanted they said it all of a sudden wasnt for sale. And some of my budgies were from someome selling them cheap they were infested with mites.
