I can get good, fresh-milled layer mash for $23 for 100lb here. I prefer the mash and so does my chooks....it has a fresh smell and color compared to the prebagged feeds...they all look grey to me. My birds waste so much with crumbles and pellets but the mash is never wasted and is always cleaned up well.
For my CX, I'm giving mixed whole grains, fermented. When the layers move in, I'll be doing fermented mash with whole grains, 50/50.
