I think most my EE “pullets” from TSC are cockerels… plus some. Pic heavy

Easter eggers can have ANY color legs. Not just green. This is a misconception about them. They are not a breed, they have no breed standards, just mixed breeds from basically any blue/green egg layer to anything else. You can't judge an EE by its legs or its comb or its cheeks or its crest. These are fun for trying to guess at parentage, but really do not help with anything else unless you bred them. EE also come in bantam.

If the EE bin at TSC said Easter Egger, most likely that is what they are. I know mine is good at keeping breeds organized.

Where did you get your bantams?

I am not sure where your TSC is getting their chicks from, but mine gets them from Hoover's Hatchery. I don't see Dutch Bantams available as a breed at their site.

I hope this information is helpful and you end up with a good amount of females.

It is helpful, thank you!

The bin was labeled as Dominique and Golden Laced Wyandottes. I wanted GLW but there weren’t too many. The women seemed confident these were GLW (and desperate to get rid of older chicks). They looked very healthy to me so I went with it. I did get two GLW from the same bin so I was nearly sure they weren’t the same.

I got the properly labeled bantam mix from a different TSC on the same day.

If they were really Easter eggers, there would be a lot more variance in pattern. These birds are all uniform gold duckwing. Also, I highly doubt you’d be able to find that many EEs with single combs and without beards. There are many “designer cross” EEs that may match these chickens more closely, but really the only similarity between these and EEs would be the leg color. I’d be very surprised if they ended up laying colored eggs.

Hoover’s just released their new “Easter Egger” “breed” this year, separate from their “Americana”. Most of the new “EE” are clean-faced and seem to have Legbar in them. Hoover’s also has the starlight green eggers, which seem to be mainly brown and clean faced.

I got 2 of the new “EE” pullets and yeah, both have suspiciously reddish combs at about 5 weeks. But their colors are quite diverse - one is blue with bits of red coming in, and one is kinda like a reverse cuckoo/mottle black on white. I’m hoping I’ve got at least one actual pullet and maybe their breed mix just gives them stand out combs or something …

I have seen many times bins in my local TSC labeled as “Americana” and the majority of the chicks were pretty uniform chipmunks.

You're probably right about the matching pattern. I will say that out of the 5 EE I got from TSC/Hoovers last year, only 1 had muffs. 1 had a single comb.

I know it’s been a minute but hopefully now that my birds are older and ID is more likely? And also a confirmation that my GLW are both pullets? I appreciate any help!

Just found this one Cackle Hatchey’s site for a juvenile golden Phoenix cockerel. The girls look uncanny too.The resemblance to my babies is pretty conclusive to me but I will wait for an expert. I guess the other question is bantam or full size?

Link to the hatchery site for them should someone be interested:

The GLWs still look like pullets at this point.

Pictures 4-6 are phoenixes.
