I think my barred rock is finally laying her first egg!

I am pretty excited. This morning my barred rock was egg singing like crazy. Then she is hanging out in her nest area while her sister is scratching for treats out of her site. I have never seen them voluntarily be out of eye range of one another. She is calling up a storm in there! I got them when they were 8 months and beginning their molt. So I have yet to see an egg from one of these ladies. Boy what a christmas present this will be.

The photo makes her look like a bantam but she is regular size. She was pecking lightly at her egg and wanting to bring it under herself to sit. It was like she knew she was supposed to do SOMETHING with this egg but was not sure.

Especially when I took it and fried it in a pan.

My Br's eggs are more brown looking than yours. Congratulations on her crowning achievement! What a good girl!!!! My BR sneaks off while the others are out ranging to lay her egg in peace and quiet. I have never heard her egg song but her eggs were small and have become progressively larger.
