I think my chicken is a girl ..

Taking care of one chick is no harder than taking care of a dozen. Just provide heat, water, chick starter food and and a clean living space. You'll want to get started on a coop and pen of you plan to keep it. Make sure you do some reading up on chicken care to properly house it.

More is better for any flock animal. Best to stick with getting females in case it is a male. Breed is quite likely a mutt if it's a chick that wandered off from its mother. You can start guessing gender around 4+ weeks. If it's not a mutt you'll have to wait till it is a few months old to get a guess for that as well.

Most likely a mixed breed and too young to tell gender yet.

It's recommended that you have at least 3 chickens in case something happens to one you are not left with a lone bird. Having 4 may seem a bit daunting right now, but I can assure you, it is not that difficult and no different than keeping just 3, or 4, or 6, or 12. If you plan to keep the little fellow I would suggest building or buying a nice coop to keep them safe. Be cautious of getting the prefab kits as they are often too small and are not built to last. You can find a lot of good used coops or playhouses that can easily be fixed up and converted on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Or you can build you own with some inspiration from our Coops Page.
