I think my chicken is transgender...

The Buff Brahma is a cockerel. The Dark Brahma is a cockerel. The Cochins are both pullets, a Birchen and a Blue. The red one is a Rhode Island Red cockerel.
x2.

Keep in mind, all your boys are just now starting to reach maturity. They're sweet and lovey now, but the next few months can change things drastically. Hormones are powerful things.

Having a daughter that just finished being a teenager 6 months ago, I can attest to that! LOL

We'd always planned to see how their personalities developed and they behaved in the lock before making culling decisions. Honestly, of the cockrels, the RIR is the only one that's definitely safe (unless he just turns into and absolute jerk). He kind of wormed his way in from day one and was the first of any of the chicks to really begin interacting with us.

LOL, I told my wife we either need 24 more females or 2 - 3 fewer males.

She wants me to build a separate rooster coop with an enclosed run (they're all free ranging in the yard right now). We'll see what happens.

They always come up with a way to get their way and make more work lol
Well, yeah... (My DH would readily agree with you!

Could you put the cockerels all in a temporary bachelor pen, let them grow up a bit and see how their personalities turn out? I'm kind of having the same dilemma (not the wife wanting to keep them all since I am the wife in this marriage, just trying to decide which of the 9 or so we have that I want to keep for breeding). My cockerels are all going into a grow-out/bachelor pen tonight for a few weeks to see who gets to stay. I'm definite on one, just not sure of the second. Good luck!
