I just gave away my crazy crowing roosters yesterday (ee started crowing at 6 weeks and my silkie started at 10 weeks). I knew that I had a couple more roosters but no crowing from them so I decided to keep them for a bit longer. I went out to my garden to see if anything was ready to harvest and I hear this loud lusty Errrrrr-er-Errrrrrrrr!!! My ameraucana (non-standard

) started crowing today! I guess since the other ee was the head of the flock he wasn't crowing but now that he's gone he's decided it's his job??? Anyway, the chicken gods are laughing at me right now!

Too sweet..

I thought I read someplace that if you do not have a rooster, One of the hen's may take the dominant roll and try to Crow possibly.

I have a question? Can you have more than one rooster in the same coop and run. If so will they fight?

Some will, others won't. It's pretty subjective. I had an older, very sweet BO roo and accidentally added two Leghorn roos. The young ones were inseparable but they almost killed the BO.

You removed the alpha roo, and now he's top roo, so the crowing shall commence.

2 roos together depends on the roos, if they were raised together, if the sub roo doesn't try to over throw the top roo, if there's enough room for them both, etc.... Really it's a watch and see how they do thing.
