I think my dog has Kennel Cough

My seven month old puppy woke me up this morning sounding like he was choking on mucus. He does it when he’s excited or moves too quickly. From my research, it looks like kennel cough. It sounds like he’s got a lot of crud in his throat and I think he’s just trying to swallow it to get rid of it. He’s still trotting around, tail wagging and is currently chewing on a toy. He does whine a little bit when he coughs slightly. Any natural remedies that have worked for you?

I would have a vet look at my puppy just to be sure of the diagnosis. Kennel cough is easily treated with antibiotics. I don’t know what other pets you have or dogs your puppy plays with, but Kennel cough is contagious.

I agree a vet is needed

While kennel cough is fairly treatable pneumonia is another story.

I agree with the others, you'll want to schedule a Vet visit. Has he been around other dogs that have gone to the groomer's or boarded at a kennel? Those are likely places to catch KC. Good luck!

We just recently started taking him to the dog park. We’re keeping an eye on him since vets are closed on the weekends. If the cough doesn’t go away in a couple days, we’re planning on taking both pups to the vet. He’s already coughing significantly less than yesterday.
