I think my goat has a cold.

I'm glad to hear that you think her temp is good. I've seen such a range for "normal" temperatures. The Fias Co Farm site says 102.5 - 104, so I assumed that she was okay. But how do you know what normal actually is? I guess I'll use her 102.8 as a baseline and if it goes up from there, I'll be concerned. I'm going to start them both on vitamin C. About the cocci - my vet (who regularly treats livestock), prescribed 5 days of Corid. My daughter took in the sample and picked up the prescription, so I didn't talk to the vet. What do you use?

CoRid - I use for 21 days MINIMUM, drench, undiluted

DiMethox - 14 days, drench, undiluted

This is one thing the fiascofarm website is wrong about, as are most vets that don't specialize in goats.

You had better switch to DiMethox now that you've used CoRid for only 5 days, the cocci is probably resistant. You can also get Albon from the vet...but I just order the DiMethox online.

Yep the temp seems normal anything over 103 is getting up there....104 and you are in trouble. When you call the vet get some banamine to have on hand just incase they ever run a temp...its 1cc per 100 lbs. good stuff if you need it. Also you need to treat for cocci like Kate(helmsted) said...only treating 1 time will make it resistant...its either 14 days or 21 depending on the treatment and with Corid you need to give a fortified B shot also as it depletes the b vitamin in the goat. Then you are looking at polio...I personally use DiMethox and treat for 14 days and then fecal again to see if its all gone...better to reworm the goats also as its a new enviroment and stress will bring on the worms and cocci. When you worm them do it and then 10 days alter do it again and then do again in 10 days. This breaks the cycle of the worms and eggs. Its a pain but it works well.
