I think my hen is egg bound.

It may be a hernia, but I wonder if it's a mass/tumor or she laid internally.

Let's see if @Eggcessive or @coach723 have any better suggestions.

Internal laying is very common when hens get salpingitis. The eggs can go up the oviduct and out into the abdomen where they become solid masses. The wall of the abdomen can also develop a hernia occasionally. I would just try to get her eating and drinking, and keep her comfortable.

Some vets can give hormone implants to hens to make them stop laying for 4-6 months, but those are very expensive, and not practical for most of us.

We decided to euthanize her since she just wasn't getting any better and not living a good quality of life at all. The mass was actually a mass of fat. Her insides were covered in fat as well. She wasn't my bird originally, I've only had her a few weeks.

Her liver looked very strange, like it had been chewed on? I have attached photos below.

You can see the large amounts of fat as well.

I'm sorry about the hen, but it was good to put her out of her misery.

I'm no expert, so hopefully others will chime in. The excess fat in laying hens can cause quite a lot of issues. The liver is damaged by what I would assume is fatty liver disease, but could be wrong.
