I think my Indian Runner is a mutt....

He is just keeping a low profile.

my runners are pure bred from a reputable dealer, and they don't stand upright either... they do when they are peeking out of their pen... I've read that amercian runners are not nearly as skinny and up right as their european/indian bretheren

But you know what. I kept looking at the head. Don know if it is the stance that makes your duck look different, but the head looks a little of not as stremliney as a runner, sort of looks like a bit of peking mixed it. You cant always depend n hatcheries. I got a mud egg from a well known COMPANY in Texas instead of pure cochin it was mixed with OEGB.

It was the stance I noticed, but like I said, I can't complain...she was free

I just don't want to give someone and egg and say "this is blah blah blah" when I just don't know for sure. Well, with a Khaki Drake in the pen, I will have mutts from her anyway. Who cares? They are so darn cute.

Time to make them breakfast. They are loving the alfalfa cube in the warm water thing.

True runner ducks stand upright. Their tail will be near the ground as they walk, which is upright like a human. They should be no wider than an adults hand with all five fingers together. They bill will run even with the top of the head (no dip for a forehead). The true runner will rarely be less than upright. Yours are production runners, which are very good layers but not so good in poultry shows.
