Last week I found my two roos fighting. It was a pretty bad fight. I've had to seperate them now. They were both really bloody on their wattles and combs. I doctored them both with some peroxide and neosporin. Henry's is all ready so much better but Harry's (his comb is very large) has a huge black scab at the top back and even though I keep doctoring it it is now yellowish around the scab which I'm sure is an infection.

Am I not putting the right stuff on it or is what I'm putting on it not helping? I don't want it to get any worse and I'm at a loss as what to do.

He has officially moved into his own coop and run but he can hear the other chickens and wondering if it is stressing him and that might be why he is not healing? It will be a month or so before I can get him his own flock of hens that have been quarantined. I had him in my garage while we built his coop but he could still hear Henry crowing there too. He is eating and drinking fine but I'm just worried about his comb.

Thank you for any suggestions!

Hi Shar- do you have any electrolytes with terramycin. You could add to his water. Terramycin is an antibiotic. Don't use any more peroxide on him because at this stage it can harm healing tissue. Neosporin on comb should help too.

I have terramycin powder I can add to the water. Is that good or should I add it to something else? I also got him some yogurt to help with his digestive system. His poo is a bit runny but only sometimes?? I figured it was from being stressed?
I think I will give him some scrambled egg too for some protein.

I wondered about the peroxide. I've only done it twice but it seemed to start turning yellowish after I did that. So thank you! I will not do that anymore!

So do I only put neosporin on it? Is there not anything else to put if it is infected at this point?

Thanks!
Shar
