I think my seller lied about my chicks :/

Hi All!

I think the lady I got my chicks from lied about their breed. I'm brand new to raising chickens so she could've pretty much told me anything and I wouldn't have known for sure if it's true or not. She sold me these chicks as 7 week old Ameracaunas. They're all so different and I have no idea of what breed they are and can only guess about their sex. I could always just wait a few months to find out.....BUT that's tooooo hard. I'm just excited to have these little guys and would love to know what they are so that maybe I can name them too. Thank you all!



Here's my guess on these 3. The one in the middle I'm pretty sure is a roo because the pea comb is already pinkish. What do you guys think? How about his breed? The one on the right I'm pretty sure is a pullet because the comb is almost completely flat, almost no ridges and no color to it at all. Her body type is also very rounded. What do you think is her breed? The one on the left I'm confused about. Based on her comb, I think it might be a pullet, but the body type seems like a roo. :/

Here's the black and white one from the picture above. The comb has ridges, but it's not pink, it's still yellow. Legs slate. What do you guys think?

She has these copper colored "hairs" or stripes on her chest. Of the four chicks, she has the most feathers, although she's the same size as the pullet (I think) on the right from the group picture on top.

Here's close-up of the bird sitting on the far right in the first picture. Here you can see her comb has no ridges yet, and no pink color.

This is the roo from the middle in the top picture. Sorry, the picture is blurry, but I wanted you to see his body type better.

Here's the roo (I think) and in front of him what seems to me a rumples pullet from the top group picture.

Looks like you have some Easter edgers, in my opinion. A lot of people mistakingly, weather intentional or not, try to pass them off as pure Americana or Araucana.
They are really cute chicks tho, I like the silver one .

There are only 8 true colors of Ameraucanas


Ameraucanas: A fairly young breed that many believe was developed from EE stock. This breed of chicken can only come in one of the following colors: Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten and White. NO other colors. The Ameraucana MUST have slate colored legs, a pea comb, have a beard and muff, and lay blue (to bluish green) eggs. This is a very strict and exacting breed, and is fairly rare, despite hatcheries lying left and right about selling them (really they are selling EEs).

Araucanas: An old breed believed to have been developed in ancient Chile. This breed of chicken is very unusual looking due to having normal length feathers growing out of it's cheeks, resulting in sweeping-back 'tufts'. They also lack the final spinal segment in their tail, giving them a 'tail-less,' appearance. They lay sky-blue eggs (only color allowed), do not have noticeable wattles, and are EXTREMELY rare.

Easter Eggers (EE): A very very very common type of chicken sold by hatcheries. This is NOT a breed, but rather an unregulated mix that tends to share general features. Most of the time anyway. Because it's not a breed, they can come in all colors, in all sizes, with all types of combs, laying all types of eggs, with all kinds of personalities, etc. Generally speaking, the 'ideal' EE should have: a pea comb, lay blue to green eggs, have a beard and muff, and have willow colored leggs. But, as stated before, nobody is reinforcing or regulating them, so hatcheries can mix, match, substitute, edit, remove, swirl, and generally do whatever the heck they want with the genes.

Yep, Easter Eggers and still too early to tell the sex, they look closer to 5 weeks.
