Ideal let me add three dark egg layers to my feed store's order. They came in today, unmarked even though Ideal promised they would be. Anyway, I think I got a Cukoo Maran, a Belevendar (sp?) and an Easter Egger. I tried to tell her I thought it was wrong, but she insisted it was right. She had 25 EE chicks, so I bet she got my third girl.

Can anyone please share your chick pics from these breeds so I can see if I am right or wrong? Thanks...

Do you mean barnevelder? They lay dark eggs. Sounds like you got two dark layers and possibly a colored egger. Barnevelder chicks cna vary pretty widely but they look alot like EE's in that they have similar chipmunk striping. Easiest thing to do is do a goodle image search for barnveler chicks and see all the different ones that come up.

Barnies are very nice birds, gorgeous to look at and very friendly.

Best bet would be to go to McMurray Hatchery's site at http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com and look at the photos for each breed. McMurray has an extensive site with lots of photos, including photos of chicks for most of the breeds. You'll be able to click through the photos there and compare what you've received.

Cuckoo Marans chicks are black with a white spot on their head, light underbellies and tushes, and black/cream faces, if that helps.

Here is a pic of my Barnevelder chicks that came from Ideal Hatchery:

Yet another chick-back of head shot-she turned away at the last second!:

Hope this help! This is my first time owning Barnevelders, so far I'm falling in love! They are the sweetest chicks! I hope you got one!

Thanks, not what mine look like. Kind of resemble my gold laced wyandottes, though. Maybe I have a welsummer. Either wary is fine with me!

The first one looks just like our EE, Jade.

here is Jade a few days old:

Number Two looks like our Barred Rock chicks, and a rooster to boot. Hope I'm wrong.

Hmm, thinking back.... our Barred Rock chicks had yellow undersides, not grey or silver.
