recently my dad bought a hen from a friend and I tried to convince him to keep them separate for a week or two but he insisted that the person he got it from was trustworthy so we just added it to the only other chicken which is a rooster. Today in the morning after the rooster started crowing by like half an hour I went to give them food and I noticed that the chicken was sleeping while standing but it was so early that I didn't really give it alot of attention but just now I went to check on them and the rooster was sneezing repeatedly. I don't know what to think of but I've been told that chickens sneezing is very serious so I was wondering if I should put them on anti biotics or something or if I should just keep observing?

I hope your dad learned something from this. Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) is very common and not always noticeable when a new chicken is purchased because symptoms can wax and wane.

It may not be too late to isolate this hen until her symptoms clear up. Most of the time, CRD will clear up without the help of antibiotics. But if the chicken appears to be pretty sick, an antibiotic may be necessary. Watch these chickens for now, and if either becomes more sick, then Tylan or Tylosin are good antibiotics for it.
