I thought chickens layed eggs at 6 months?

Nov. 18, 2020 Mrs. Peeps A Lot and many others hatched out of their little silky chicken eggs. Nov. 21, 2020 They keets killed all but, 3 chicks on accident. July 10, 2020 The remaining chicks Mrs. Peeps A Lot, Little Jimmy, and Princess Peach went to live with their broody mama. Aug 14-15 Mama Greasy hatched out Little Debbie the barred silky and Midnight the silky rooster. Today its been way over 6 months where is my silky chicken eggs?

Silkie are late layers. Mine started close to 8 months of age. It is not unheard of for them to be a year old before they lay.

My chickens go broody whether there are eggs or not. Lol! And having babies around can cause those hormones to kick in.

Also, I have one who decided to molt now. This late.

Silkies lay very late compared to other breeds. Be patient. Some may even take up to a year.

The chicks are now full grown poor thing I might put some silky rock eggs for her to sit on.

I went to her nesting box to put some silky rock eggs in there and a suprise to my eyes layed 2 little silky chicken eggs

I put a few more eggs in there so now she has 7 eggs to sit on. I can't wait for the others to start laying!

Would one of those little chicken helmets protect Dove's head or are they just some cheap little decorations that make your chicken look like they just got back from the racein track?
