Seems to be getting pink? And has larger things ( waddles?) under its neck than the others ?
Is it normal for hens to be pink or red too or does that ONLY happen w Roos ?
Any pics at 4weeks old of others Roos or hens of barred rocks would be helpful!!! I tried googling it and it was no help at all ;(

Thanks so much!

I'm no expert, since these are my first chicks...but...it's a cockerel :(. I'd eat my sock if it wasn't. Looks just like mine. And yes, those are wattles on each side of his chin. The pullets have 'em too, but they are really small and stay yellow. Your boy's comb is a dead giveaway to me...pink and significantly taller than the pullets' combs.

Here are my cockerels at 4 weeks:

Thanks so much! That's what I said too " I'd bet money it's a roo " lol but my mil seems to think all girls get a lil pink ... This ones wattles are big enough to touch and move tho w a fingernail if u can understand what I mean? The others are tight to their faces . And some don't have combs at all or very small ones ...

Thank you for the pics !

All images above are roosters! :-)
I disagree, crayon. I believe her bird in question is a certainly a cockerel, and maybe the second picture (but not sure...has feathering of a pullet, yet that comb makes me nervous), but I believe her first girl is definitely a pullet.

As for mine, the first four are cockerels, but the last two are pullets. At 5 weeks today, it's quite obvious who's who...here's a current pic of both of my pullets:

And here are current pics of my cockerels:

Not only am I sure about mine because of their appearance, but their behaviors as well. All four of my cockerels fought when I took them outside. Hackles raised, nose to nose...Zeus even pounced on another one of my boys. My girls, however, didn't fight at all...in fact, they ignored the brawls...and not one of my cockerels tried to pick a fight with either of my pullets.

If I'm wrong about mine, just like I said to OP about being wrong about her chick in question...I'll eat my sock.

Ok sooooo now I am going to take more pics later cuz I'm pretty sure not only do I have 1 but 2 others ! AHHH could just be me freaking BUT I highly doubt it ! There's red/pink poppin up everywhere!

That's the problem with hatchery chicks...they aren't "pure", so normal traits don't always apply. I've read on other threads that some people with BR's have birds with male characteristics, yet they are pullets, and female characteristics, yet they are cockerels. Realistically, I don't think we can know 100% until the girls start laying and the boys start crowing. So don't freak out yet!
